Excerpts from Treatise: Warrior-Monks:
Walking Shrines:
Benjamin S. Kaiye : This legendary Warrior-Monk of the Draconic Order of Tepesh gave his life for his Temple Abbot during the battle at the Castle of Korom.
Holding the bridge leading to the off-world Gates, he single-handedly held off over 600 Guardsmen and countless traitor Warrior-Monks and rogue Eldarai separatists while the remainder of the Temple’s forces made good their tactical retreat.
Unable to cross the bridge as long as the hulking Warrior-Monk remained, the forces of the enemy found themselves at a standstill until it was decided to gather up what ammunition was left and kill the mighty Warrior-Monk with a volley of whatever was at hand. And so, with an overwhelming barrage of PRAG rounds, G.A.Y. discharges and Rifled-Slugs the great Monk was slain. But even in death he remained upright, his weapon held high above his head as though ready to come crashing down upon the nearest foe.
Only after tipping over the lifeless giant with their spears did they realize their foe was gone. And so the vile forces of the enemy left his body behind as they hurled themselves towards the remaining Aether-Gates.
But his story did not end there, Vlad le Dracul was all too keenly aware of his retainers sacrifice. Dispatching a team of Monks and Elite Death-Jumpers (Fallschirmjager) the great hero’s body was recovered and it was discovered that a tiny spark of life remained in the ruined form of that once great Monk. After much contemplation, the decision was made to place the hero’s remains within a Walking Shrine. And so the Great Shrine of Ben-Kaiye was created.
The Shrine remains on Dracul’s homeworld of Sylvania. It has been beseeched for aid on only a handful of occasions and each time has slaughtered those who would oppose the Khan with a fury that would inevitably become a thing of myth.
